This week the 7th grade class finished their 2-point perspective tree house designs. We first learned all about 2 point perspective and practiced as a class, watching videos and completing a worksheet. They then applied that skill to design their own unique tree house in their sketchbook. The students transferred their design to art paper and then added color with the painting techniques learned last week. Everything came together so nicely for the final project, many students showed mastery of the tricky perspective and made amazing designs!
The ceramics class has been working on a "Lyrical Pottery" unit. Each student is making their own slab mug, complete with handles and designs. The mugs achieve their uniform shape by wrapping a rolled slab around a large piece of PVC pipe.
6th Art Foundations
The students have been learning about optical illusions in art this week. We started out by learning the tricks of 1 point perspective and practiced drawing designs using the technique. We then moved on to using cross contour lines to fool the eye into believing flat objects are three dimensional.
This week the 3rd grade classes continued their work on their custom color wheels. The students carefully filled in the sections of their wheel, taking care to concentrate on craftsmanship and pressure on the pencil.
The 4-5th grade classes used the portrait drawing skills they learned last week to draw a fun face for our "bad hair day" project. They will be adding colorful hair next week using blown paint.
