The 5th graders finished up their beautiful watercolor cacti still life paintings. They had a TON of fun with these and it felt good to do a shorter project with them to take a break from our extended projects. I showed them a ton of images of cacti of different varieties and then showed them how to set up a still life using overlapping objects to create depth.
Here are some photos of a few finished monsters! The kids loved this project SO much, they were estatic to finally be able to take their creations home.
The photography kids learned about David Hockney's unique take on portraits and proceeded to create their own collage mimicking the style. Some of these actually turned out really nice! They are very abstract and interesting to look at.
The 6th graders are working on a project dealing with dragons....more on that next week!
The older students finished up their clay whistle project. It was quite difficult to get each whistle to work, but overall I think the students are happy with their work and excited to finish them up after firing.
