Our first glaze firing was a complete success! Glazing can be a tricky task, especially if you are new to the school like me and are unfamiliar with the brands of glaze. I was so worried the glaze would run or I would not fire at the right temperature, but everything turned out awesome! This week the ceramics students are starting work on a teapot project. I have already seen some awesome designs, it will be a lot of fun helping the students work on them.
This week we looked at examples of decorative designs from other cultures and talked about non-objective art. The students had a blast making stamps using incredibly simple supplies like rubber erasers and washable markers.
This week the 7th graders got to experiment with clay and create their own hollow forms. We had a lot of really neat ideas, I can't wait to get them fired.
The third grade art classes have been working hard on their Doodle for Google designs. I have been amazed at the level of creativity that the students have been showing!
The older elementary grades are working on a really fun one point perspective project. They worked on the drawing last week and then we moved into color.
