The ceramics class finished up painting their entries for cupcake wars! We were finally able to vote and choose some winners. They then jumped into a slab box project, spending the first day or two working on throwing out the clay and rolling to consistent thickness on each part. They then traced a pattern and cut out 6 squares to turn into their box.
The 6th graders learned about value shading this week and have been working on a still life assignment. The project has proved challenging for many, but the majority are really rising to the occasion! They have been dedicated and really looking at the objects in front of them.
The 7th graders are still hard at work on their masks. They have been doing an amazing job and I can't wait to see the finished result. They have finished the bases and are now working on adding unique features and decoration.
My youngest students have been hard at work starting a floral still life in oil pastel. They love the pastels because they are smooth and vibrant!
The fifth graders have been working on a watercolor landscape painting. I have been amazed at how well these young artists have been doing. They have such amazing skills already, I can't wait to see them develop over time.
