7th Grade

My 7th graders finished up a BIG drawing project! I taught the class how to work from a reference using a grid to create an accurate drawing. A lot of the students said it really helped them gain confidence in their abilities. They each got to choose their own reference and we worked on transferring the shapes to a larger format for shading. I love how this process allows students to take on challenging subject matter and really boost their confidence!

4th Grade
The fourth graders had a blast being "professional artists" this week. We were contacted by a local business and asked to create unique and colorful Christmas cards in return for a donation to our art department. The kids were thrilled about essentially being "paid" for their work! I had them do Styrofoam prints using washable markers and sponges to wet the paper. They did a great job and I wish I could keep them all!
8/9 Ceramics

The ceramics class finished up an awesome birdhouse project! They did a great job of combining creativity with skill. I am so excited to see how they all turn out!
3rd Grade
The third grade classes completed a fun tissue paper collage assignment based on the changing leaves. They loved using the torn paper to create see through leaves for their trees,

7th Grade
The 7th graders finally finished up their large value study drawings. They particularly enjoyed this project because they got to work from whatever reference image they wanted. It took a few weeks to finish these so I am so glad that my students were able to stay motivated enough to see them through to the end.
The seventh graders also got most of their clay whistles back today. We are still waiting on a few to finish glazing :)
5th Art
The fifth grade classes got to glaze their creative clay pots this week! They were thrilled with the results from the firing :)

6th Grade
My 6th graders finished up a few sets of artist trading cards. They chose a theme based on opposites and then used whatever materials they wanted! We then played a fun matching game as part of our critique.
3/4th Art
The fourth graders made these really neat flextangles and the third grade classes practiced continuous line and made these hilarious owls. They will be coloring them next week while I am on the middle school field trip. After they finished they got to add their own touches to three huge cardboard circles as part of our last day together celebration. I am really going to miss my crazy third graders, they have been really fun to get to know them this year. Luckily since I teach so many grades I
