The 6th grade students finished up their first still life project this week. I brought in bowls of fresh fruit for them to draw. Many students were intimidated by drawing from life but they did a great job at tackling the challenging subject matter. Each student drew their own still life and then added brilliant color using chalk pastels. The background was filled with intricate zentangle designs in sharpie.
5th & 4th Art
The 5th graders finished up their clay project this week. They did a great job and I can't wait to fire them! The fourth grade teachers asked me to do a quilt square activity with their classes so that is what we spent our time on this week.
3rd art did a GREAT job at mastering some really tricky one point perspective. I taught them how to use a horizon line and guides to draw roads and cacti.
The 7th graders have been hard at work doing AMAZING black and white drawings. They got to choose their own image and have been doing incredible work.
The photo students experimented with "levitation photography" this week. It is a simple editing trick that the students really have fun playing around with. We brought chairs outside and positioned the students on them. We then took a photo of the background without student or chair and combined the images.
