WOW! The 8th and 9th graders blew me away with their first homework assignment. I am stunned at the image quality and creativity they showed. I am so excited about the talent in this class, I hope all the parents know that this group is amazing! What a stellar group of young photographers, I can't believe they are already turning in work of this quality,
The fifth graders started one of my favorite projects of the year! We learned how to to draw a few different types of cacti and then layered them in a vase to create a unique still life. The students always exceed my expectations with this project, I can't wait to see them painted!
The third graders learned how to use a continuous line and we drew some hilarious owls. I walked the students through the drawing process step by step, they were so excited when they saw the owl start to take shape. They did the drawing in sharpie then added some crazy colors with markers.
For the art show this year I decided to have the fourth graders to a collaborative project involving radial symmetry. I cut out a bunch of paper circles and had the students fold them into 8 pieces. After that I showed them how to take one slice of the pie and repeat the pattern around the center. They then traced their designs and colored.
The 6th grade class has been hard at work on a printmaking project. We learned about reduction prints and used books from our school library to draw some amazing animals to work from.
