My photography class finished up a value portrait project. We learned about different ways photographers use dramatic lighting to create emotion in a portrait and then tried it out in class! We had a few students volunteer to model while the others handled the lighting lamps and everyone else took pictures. I am so pleased with the strong composition the photos had as well as dramatic black and white shadows. The students did wonderfully on this project!
The third graders have spent two classes working on little pinch pot monsters. The students could not be more thrilled to be working with such a fun and messy medium! They are all done sculpting so they will need to wait patiently for the monsters to dry and be fired. After that we will have a fun day painting!
The 7th grade class finished up their first big project! I first taught the students how to draw in two point perspective, with a little practice everyone was able to grasp the complicated drawing technique. We then looked at tree-house designs from all around the world and used them to inspire our own unique dwellings. I was so happy with the precision of the perspective as well as the fun ideas the students came up with! My examples are to the right.
One other exciting thing to happen in our class is WE GOT A POTTERY WHEEL! I have wanted to give the students the opportunity to try one out ever since I started here. I listed the item on Donors Choose and the Mountain West Athletic Conference actually funded the full amount! It was such a fun surprise! I cant wait to start letting students try it out!
