The 6th graders learned about street art and had a discussion about the effect that venue has on perceived value. It is always fun to hear the kid's thoughts on this subject! We then studied the difference between graffiti art and vandalism, and also looked at artists that toe the line between the two. Each student then created their own street art style name and we ended off by doing an image sorting activity. Each group was given as stack of images and asked to select the ones that best represented the kind of art they like. It was fun to see how the definition of "good art" varied by person.
The 7th graders are off to a running start on their inner me/outer me masks. They focused on building the base and the basic design this week. I also have photos of the finished treehouse project.
The fourth graders started creating backgrounds using tints and shades of a single color. They are looking great so far!
