This class is currently working on a self portrait project in monochrome. I think a few students are thrilled to be using the acrylic, and some are finding it hard to work with. I think with a ltitle elbow grease these portraits are going to be beautiful! The one on the right is my example in progress.
I also finally took down the display we have had at the Logan Library, the masks were able to be shown for a full month! We got a lot of positive feedback from the people at the library as well as the students. It is always so fun to see something you have made up on display, but I think the students were excited to take their creations home.
My 6th graders learned about Keith Haring and are in the process of creating their own figure in movement. We started with a simplet tin foil base then added layers of paper mache and paint to create unique statues! I called this project "Mini Me Statues", the students loved it! A few finished photos of these crazy sculptures are below, they are hilarious! Some are quite true to character!
The third and fourth graders learned how to draw faces this week in preparation for our self portrait unit. I LOVE seeing how kids draw themselves, it is always so interesting!
The fifth graders finished up their perspective artworks, I was so happy with the variety of ideas!
The ceramics studets are hard at work on their final project. I am so excited to see how they turn out! We got the teapots fired and they will be glazed after the break. There were SO many fun and creative designs, I loved them!
