The 6th graders had a BLAST doing this dragon eye project. We talked about texture as a way to add interest to art and I walked them through the process of creating their own eyes. We then used a repeated pattern for scales, added oil pastel to the iris and eyelid and colored the scales with tissue paper. I am SO happy with how these turned out, they might be my new favorite project for 6th!
The photo class experimented with clone photography with an assignment I dubbed "Attack of the Clones". We took a few photos of students in various poses, always being careful to keep the camera in the same position. Then we layered the photos over each other to create a cloned effect.
The 7th graders are starting a big grid drawing project. They got to choose an image to recreate and I have been showing them how to transfer the shapes and tones using the grid method. This technique has been great for them to learn because it gives them a lot of confidence in their drawing skills. They are already amazed at how complex they are able to draw at this early stage.
5th graders are starting their clay project!
3rd & 4th Grade
The third grade classes worked on starting a desert perspective landscape. They are doing really well! I didn't see my 4th graders this week because of a field trip.
