8/9 Photography
The photography class spent the first week learning about how cameras work and composition. We even got to spend a day gathering photos from around our school! I then spent a day going over simple Photoshop edits and had the students practice on their own shots.  I am so excited to see the excellent work already coming out of this group!
6th & 7th
The sixth and seventh grade classes worked on creating their very own coptic bound sketchbooks! I LOVE how these covers turned out! The binding process is never easy to learn, but once you understand the basic concept, the kids just light up! They realize that they CAN do this awesome project and they are always so proud of the results.
5th Grade
The fifth graders finished up a fun koi fish inspired painting project! We started with simple drawing steps to create a koi fish then added come fun details. They then traced their drawings in sharpie and added color using watercolors. The last step was to copy a few Chinese symbols on a red paper and glue it. The kids had a blast!
3rd Grade
The third grade classes learned about shadows and created a fun tape resist landscape. We started by laying down three pieces of painters tape on a thick paper. The students then used small scraps of tape to create branches. After the trees were formed, we drew in a horizon line, sketched mountains and shadows, then painted. The second week we gently peeled back the tape and added detail and shading using colored pencils.
4th Grade
The fourth grade classes learned about basic face proportions and lightly drew their own likeness on paper. They then learned about colorful artists like Picasso and applied crazy patterns and colors to their faces. It was a really fun and funky project!

7th Grade
The seventh graders finished up their awesome self portraits. This project is quite challenging, the students have to combine portrait drawing with the tricky medium of acrylic. I am so proud of the students for pushing through the difficulties with this project, the results are worth it!
3rd Grade
The third graders finished up their crazy tie dyed self portraits! I love this project because I get to learn so much about my students, it is so fun to see what words they choose to describe themselves.
8/9 Ceramics
The ceramics class just finished up their free choice final. I LOVE seeing all the weird, wacky and amazing projects the kids choose to take on. It is so fun to just let them run wild with a project.
